We need a fresh face on council; somebody who can bring a new perspective.
I've been a bit sick of some of the negativism, particularly surrounding the circumstances of this by-election.
It's still important to the people of Cowra that they have the representation on the council.
What do you see as the big issues in Cowra?
I'm very interested in youth issues, I'm very interested in disadvantaged groups and also access issues as a pedestrian.
Because I don't drive or have a driver's licence, one notices these things.
I also feel I can represent the ordinary working people in town, and from my perspective with my history of being a carer, I was a carer for nine and a half years until my mum passed away, and at the ripe old age of 59 had to go back into the workforce.
It's a tough thing and a lot of people in Cowra do it tough.
What experience do you bring to the table?
I've had experience in both the private and public sectors.
I spent 20 odd years in the public service working for the NSW Department of Lands, the Motor Accidents Authority of NSW and NSW Department of Health.
I've been employed in Cowra in the private sector working for the Cowra Japanese Gardens on a 12-month contract, and I've done part time work in the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. About a year and a half ago I was fortunate enough to get a position here in Bunnings.
I've got that appreciation of what its like to hold down a job in the real world, which I think is very important.
Why should people vote for you?
I have an interest in local government.
I feel the council has unfairly had a bit of mud flung at it; anybody who puts their hands up to public office deserves a bit of respect.
Sometimes we have to put our money where our mouth is.
