THE Launceston Medical Centre redevelopment has begun, and another local medical centre has lodged expansion plans with the City of Launceston.  Northern Tasmania Urology has lodged a development application with the council to expand and refurbish its 25-27 Canning Street practice to incorporate the adjoining property at 23 Canning Street.  The works would also involve construction of an additional building to connect the properties.  Meanwhile, the Launceston Medical Centre redevelopment will result in nine new consulting rooms, additional space for a cafe, pharmacy and medical imaging, and undercover parking.  The centre will operate as normal throughout the work.  LMC co-owner Dr Jerome Muir Wilson said the changes would increase the availability of key health services in Launceston.  “LMC will be a true multi-disciplinary practice, adding a new medical imaging and pharmacy space,” he said.  “As a result of the development, LMC will have more doctors, offering more appointments, in a modern, spacious, family friendly and accessible practice.”
