The Cowra Chapter of OzFish, a national fishing conservation charity, has been put together by two of Cowra's local like-minded businesses.
Tanya Beasley of Primal Utopia Fishing & Tackle and Jamie Judd of Gobsmacked Lures, along with local Sue Sanders and fishing journalist Rod Harrison are the newly formed committee who are seeking members not only for Clean Up Australia Day but for ongoing projects in the future.
The Cowra Chapter has chosen to support Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 1.
They are reaching out to our local area and surrounds in the hopes that many may come and register their interests before Sunday on the OzFish Unlimited (Cowra Chapter) Facebook Page.
Alternatively, registrations of interest can be made in store at Primal Utopia, 36 Kendal Street Cowra or text 0400 411 336.
It is not essential to register ahead of the day but does help with determining crews and supplies required on the morning of the clean up.
Volunteers will be assisting with clearing of rubbish and removal of plastics, waste, tyres, trolleys, mattresses, bottles, cigarette butts, dead fish and other aquatic species.
The event will commence at 9am at the Low Level Bridge in Cowra.
Please arrive anytime after the 8.30am to allow time for signing in and for the Team Leader Jamie as he goes through the safety requirements for the day.
There will be crews walking the embankment, along with some in small dinghies and kayaks going down the river.
The day will conclude around 3.30pm at Farleighs Reserve, the top level embankment where OzFish Cowra & Surrounds Chapter will provide a sausage sizzle for the hardworking volunteers.
Tanya, Jamie and crew would like to extend a special thank you to Ros and Geoff Delaney for their very generous offer to allow them to use their property as an Emergency Exit point should it be required and also a drop off point for excess rubbish to be retrieved on land.
Please register your interest as early as possible and enjoy a dirty but fun filled day, one everyone can enjoy knowing they're doing their small part for our local community.
