Last Thursday Canowindra High School Students Nina Cuddy and Amelia Hatton were lucky enough to be accepted for TEN4TEN, and invited to the program launch dinner at the Orange Ex-services club.
TEN4TEN is a leadership program that aims to provide ten selected Year 11 students from the Central West with the opportunity to build on their leadership skills with the guidance of experienced mentors from a wide range of fields.
Throughout the course, the chosen students will attend an afternoon tea at Orange City Council, visit the Parliament of NSW in Sydney, visit the Parliament of Australia in Canberra and attend an end-of-program breakfast, presentation in December and other additional events.
At the launch dinner they had the wonderful opportunity of meeting their mentors, Fiona Watts and Amy Gormly.
“I applied for this program because I would like to step out of my comfort zone and gain further confidence and leadership skills,” Amelia said.
“The Ten4Ten program was recommended to me by older students, and I wished to receive guidance on future careers in the Central West, as well as building and improving my leadership skills.” Nina Cuddy said.
Both girls hope to benefit from this program and use it as building blocks to excel in the future. Nina is unsure about her future career, however she is potentially interested in a plant or animal based career, and Amelia is striving towards a career in environmental sciences.
The launch dinner was the perfect opportunity to meet all the mentors, other elected students and kick start the amazing program.
Canowindra High School would like to thank program ambassadors, Gerald Power, Reg Kidd, Dr Jo Braid as well as Mark Hiney who was the guest speaker at the launch dinner.
The School can't thank Josh Gordon, Lynda Smart, and Rachel Chippendale enough for their organisation and contribution to the program.
