“Council received an overall satisfaction score of 3.7 out of 5 from the 406 telephone interviews that were conducted from a random sample of residents across the Cowra Shire,” Mayor of Cowra, Bill West said.
The highest performing services were the provision of appropriate street or directional signage and waste management facilities.
The lowest performing areas were rural roads, followed by urban road surfaces.
“Local Government community satisfaction surveys are not only used to find out what our ratepayers think of their local council, but also the issues that most concern them.
“I would like to thank the community members who took the time to take part in the survey and share their thoughts about the key areas we should focus on.
“This sort of community input is invaluable as we work to provide services and infrastructure across our shire and better meet the needs of the community,” Cr West said.
The survey, prepared by independent contractor, IRIS Research, was held in May this year.
The results of the survey also revealed that at least three quarters of Cowra residents found Council’s staff to be courteous, helpful, knowledgeable and prompt.
Courteous recorded the highest average agreement rating at 4.4 out of 5.
This was followed by helpful (4.2) and knowledgeable (4.1).
“This is an excellent result and testament to our staff’s commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
“I’d like to thank our staff and contractors for all the great work they are doing for our community,” General Manager, Paul Devery said.
Community perceptions of liveability in Cowra Shire also rated highly with 84 percent of residents indicated they would recommend the Cowra region to others as a place to live.
