At about 2:20 pm on May 17 Police attended an address in Greenethorpe after they received information cannabis was growing in the back yard of the property.
Cootamundra LAC Acting Inspector Kristin Marshall said when Police arrived at the address they were invited into the premises.
“After Police had entered the property the occupant led them to a small makeshift greenhouse in the back yard,” she said.
“Police located the plants after a short visual search of the greenhouse.
“Our officers found eight cannabis plants, sized between 30cm and 1.3 metres that were located growing in the greenhouse.”
Acting Inspector Marshall said the man was extremely cooperative with Police once he realised the gravity of the situation.
“The man, who is a 54-year-old male, was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offence of Cultivate Cannabis and he will appear at Young Local Court on July 18 in relation to the charges,” she said.
Acting Inspector Marshall said Police take all information passed on to them seriously.
"Every bit of information provided to Police is followed up,” she said.
“This is just one example of how the community and Police work together on a daily basis, and we encourage people to contact police or Crime Stoppers, which can be done anonymously if they see anything suspicious in their neighbourhoods.
NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research figures show that there were 862 incidents of dealing, trafficking in cannabis recorded in New South Wales in 2016.
