An unrestrained child standing in the centre of the rear footwell of a vehicle prompted Cowra Police to stop a woman who was ultimately charged with driving disqualified.

Police stopped Kanhurangi Taylor Mate-Kahuroa, 28, of the ACT in Kendal Street about 11.40am on November 7 this year for random testing after seeing the child.
When stopped police discovered Mate-Kahuroa was travelling with five children in her vehicle and was a disqualified driver.
Failing to appear before magistrate Rana Daher in Cowra Local Court on November 29, 2023 to answer a drive during disqualified charge the ACT woman was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for a further 12 months.
When asked why she was driving during a disqualification period Mate-Kahuroa told police she had to take her children to a funeral at Bathurst.
