The competition is open to all residents of the Cowra Shire including villages and rural properties.
"We're happy to be bringing back the Christmas Lights Competition as a fun way to get the local community involved in the spirit of Christmas after what has been a really challenging year for so many," Cowra Tourism Assistant Manager Kurt Overzet said.
"We can't wait to see all the incredible displays this year, we want to see the Cowra Shire turn into a spectacular Christmas Wonderland.
"On behalf of the Cowra Christmas Festival committee, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Cowra Shire Council for their major contribution once again to the prize pool and for helping make this year's competition possible."
Awards include:
- Best House - $1500 Cowra Cash Card
- Best Village/Rural Property - $1500 Cowra Cash Card
- Runner-up - $1,000 Cowra Cash Card
- People's Choice - $1,000 Cowra Cash Card
Judging for the competition will be conducted through points awarded for appeal, originality and overall presentation and will take place on the evenings of Wednesday, December 22 and Thursday, December 23.
Public voting will also be available via the Visit Cowra website to decide the winner of the 'People's Choice Award', with each vote cast being entered into a draw to win a special prize.
During the festival period, the Cowra Visitor Information Centre will have maps to participating houses as well as special 3D-style glasses, turning lights into amazing Christmas-themed shapes and patterns when worn.
Registrations open Monday, November 15 and will close on Sunday, December 19.
