Know of a business or organisation in need of recognition?
Here's the perfect opportunity to reward them, with nominations now open for the 2021 Cowra Business Awards.
While the awards are normally held in February, Cowra Business Chamber President Jordan Core said a new date is just one of the changes made for the 2021 awards.
"This year is the first year we are allowed to change the date due to the NSW Business Chamber rearranging when their regional and state awards are," he said.
"Every other year we've had to do it in February in order to make everything line up, but due to COVID a lot of things have changed.
"So we are good to do ours in May rather than February. It's allowed us to bring our nominations back to midway through February to March rather than Christmas Day until the end of January.
"People weren't keen on the nominations around that time, it's just too hard, so we've made some good changes there."
Mr Core said they had already received over 100 nominations since they opened on Wednesday and was expecting many more.
"Obviously this year we are trying to do things bigger and better than last year," he said.
"We've received 100 nominations. By this time about two years ago there was 30 or so, last year it was between 50-70, so it's tracking on a steady increase.
"We can only assume that we will have a lot of nominations this year.
"I think it all comes back to how confident people are on their mobile devices and websites. Obviously with COVID, people had to check in with QR codes, so I think the scare factor of how to nominate people has changed.
"Five, 10 years ago we were using paper based forms to now having a fully digital offering is a pretty big difference.
"Digital literacy has helped with the amount of nominations we received this year and the fact that people have this drive to support local business this year due to COVID."
