Cowra Health Council chair Don Reid and mayor Bill West are both encouraging locals to take time to complete the survey.
The NSW government has committed to a redevelopment of the Cowra Hospital and the local health council believes it is important that planning for this project reflects the current and future needs of the Cowra community.
The health council have set a target of 1000 completed surveys by April 15.
"As a starting point, we have developed a survey as we felt it was important for the public to have their say about the project," Mr Reid said.
Surveys can be obtained from and returned to either the Cowra Hospital or Cowra Shire Council.
Alternatively, the survey can be completed online through the Western NSW Local Health District facebook page or by entering https://wnswlhd.health.nsw.gov.au/join-us/engage-with-us/have-your-say in your web browser.
There is also a plan to have a stall at Cowra's Festival of International Understanding where you can meet members of the health council and complete the survey.
The health council currently has 300 surveys but is aiming for 1000 across a broad range of the community by April 15.
"There will be further opportunities to have input into the project but we see this as an early chance and encourage everyone to participate," Mr Reid said.
Cowra mayor Bill West says Cowra residents need to get behind the health Council as well as member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke.
The Cowra Health Council is a local group that works with the Cowra Health Service and the Western NSW Local Health District to represents the needs of the community.
Encouraging Cowra residents to take the small amount of time required to fill out the survey, mayor Bill West said "It is imperative in terms of being able to give Western Area Health and the health beauracrats the information we as a community expect in terms of service and facilities in either a new or redeveloped hospital".
"It's an opportunity not to be missed and a golden opportunity for the community to put forward their point of view.
"When it's being built it's too late," Cr West said.
He also pointed out that member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has been very supportive leading the push for a new or redeveloped hospital.
"The community needs to support her and express its wishes.
"We'd encourage people to make a decision on what it wants sooner rather than later.
"The more people that respond the more information health will get," Cr West said.
