Doreen Charlwood Burge's father, Don Charlwood, wrote about Bomber Command in two books, No Moon Tonight and Journeys into Night, which both feature former Cowra High School captain Max Bryant.
Mrs Burge said due to her family's connection to Max, she felt compelled to donate a copy of each of the books to the recipient of the award.
"I am delighted to know that Max is still recognised at the school," she said.
"His name was part of our lives as children, as our parents were both so close to him.
"It was through Max that our parents met, in Edmonton, Canada during training. I feel very aware that I would not be here but for Max," she said.
Mrs Burge also donated signed copies of the books to the school's library alongside a number of photos of Max.
Mr Byrant was school captain and dux in 1939.
