Dancers from Cowra High School, Cowra Public School, Mulyan Public School and Canowindra High School were among more than 400 eager young dancers from across Western NSW putting their best foot forward as they danced at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre this week for the Western NSW Dance Festival.

The festival gave the students opportunity to showcase their creativity and performance skills and the chance to dance at one of the region's foremost theatres with professional staging.
The festival aims to support the development, teaching and love of dance in local public schools.
It is also a step towards some of the wealth of enrichment opportunities in the creative and performing arts offered through NSW public schools.
Cowra High students gave three performances.
One of the performances, titled "Walking on Eggshells" was based on the feeling of being trapped by another's will when our voice is silenced. To walk on unstable ground, as if you have to walk on eggshells.
It was performed to "You're Loved and I'm Hated".
Another Cowra High performance "And Suddenly I Realised I had Forgotten the Smell of Rain" explored the impact of the drought on communities, environments and future generations to come, performed to "On the Nature of Daylight".
Their third performance "Let's be Bad" was a musical theatre piece from the hit Broadway musical SMASH.
The performance from Cowra Public students titled "Right Place Right Time" was about the times great opportunities arise, because you happen to be in the right place at the right time. Celebrating the times when the stars align and the world is full of endless possibilities.
Canowindra High School's performance "Destiny or Domination" was performed to "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and depicted diversity but with many pushing products, ideals and way of life are they simply seeking assimilation and domination?
Dancers from Mulyan Public School also strutted their stuff on the BMEC stage.
Other western schools that represented the region were Bathurst Public School, Bathurst South Public School, Blayney High, Denison College, Eglinton Public School, Nyngan High School, Orange High School and the Orange Small Schools Association.
These schools treated audiences to a diversity of dance and music.
