AFGW Central West invites everyone to a presentation entitled "Nineteenth Century architects and buildings of the Central West" to be held on Sunday afternoon, June 16 at Cowra Services Club, 1.30pm for 2pm.
Whether you are a keen family historian or generally interested in the rich history of this area, the buildings of each era have so much to tell us about the people and their lives.
The guest speaker is Bathurst's Graham Lupp, artist and architect.
Graham's early training in architecture is the pervading influence for his interest and research into historical buildings and their architects.
He has published a two-volume history of architecture, 'Building Bathurst', which is a biographical survey of those architects and builders who erected much of our Central West in the 19th century.
Graham will show illustrations of significant and humbler buildings in our region.
For example, Fagan's Building in Kendall Street, Cowra has been identified the work of a widely active architect of the period, John Job Copeman.
The presentation is being organised by the Australian Federation of Graduate Women (AFGW) Central West Branch.
Proceeds from the afternoon will help fund our Cowra-Canowindra HSC Scholarship valued at $2000.
This scholarship is presented annually to a female student living and schooling in the Cowra, Canowindra area, completing her HSC in 2019 and intending to further her studies at a tertiary level.
Application details are available from the local high schools or at email@example.com
Afternoon tea will follow Graham Lupp's presentation.
RSVP for catering purposes to Sally Delaney 0413 274 472 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org before June 11.
Entrance is $25, pay at the door.
