Jasmine Ruth Beckett of Darling Street was before the court charged with two counts of common assault and contravening an AVO.
According to police facts, around 2.30pm on March 18, 2018, the victim went to Beckett's residence to drop off their children. The victim told Beckett they would return after tea to pick them up.
This caused an argument in which the victim decided to leave with the children. As they took the children, Beckett grabbed the back of the victim's head, scratching them on the neck.
She told the accused, "Give me the kids back or I'll bash you". The victim left with the children and later made a statement to police.
Around 11pm on April 2, 2018, the victim went to Beckett's residence. While there, Beckett began swearing in front of children.
When asked not to swear, she became argumentative, scratching the victim on the shoulder and head and kicking them in the stomach.
The victim then left with the children, going to their mother's house and seeing police.
Beckett's solicitor, Jo Collings, told the court her client's behavior occurred when the couple was "in the throws of separation".
"She did slip back into drug use, while she doesn't seek to use that as an excuse, she does realise she has anger and parenting issues that need to be resolved," she said.
In sentencing Beckett, Magistrate Michael O'Brien said if she didn't address her drug use and anger issues, she would spend most of her life in and out of prison.
Beckett also had a previous Section 12 bond revoked and redetermined as an 18 month Intensive Corrections Order.
