Seniors
A goal from Shaun Mortyne wasn't enough to get the seniors over the line against Barnstoneworth United, with the visiting team too good for Cowra down at Edgell Park last Saturday afternoon.
Cowra's performance was described as "below par" in the loss, but Barnstoneworth, who were described as having "played well," were the ones who went to half-time with a deficit.
Mortyne scored off a play that was run down the right flank, which allowed the Eagles to gain an early advantage.
However, Sam Sutton and Mitch Jacobs were quick to turn the tables in the second half, with scores allowing Barnstoneworth to take control of the game.
The Eagles struggled to handle the physical pressure of the Barnstoneworth outfit, which will be something they will have to adapt to if they are going to stay in touch with the better teams in the competition.
Andrew Booth and Sam Long were among the best in the loss, as the Eagles turn their attention to the Barnstoneworth Saints at home (Edgell Park) this Saturday from 3.15pm.
Reserves
However, in more positive news, after a tricky few weeks the reserves finally added a win to their ledger, winning 3-2 against the Saints Stars at home.
Despite fielding an under-manned side though, the Eagles were made to work for their win, with the Eagles being pushed to the brink of their abilities in what were unfortunate circumstances for the Stars team.
Goals to Ethan Willis, Mark Gordon and Sergii Trejub got the game on the Eagles' terms, but on the flipside, Gilbert Walker and Jaydon Rhodes' contributions would've had a few Eagles supporters biting the fingernails as the game reached its climax.
The Eagles would've regretted their wastefulness in front of goal, though the work of the Stars keeper played a significant part in why the Eagles were unable to get further ahead despite the likes of Gordon and Darcy Foxall, who were among the best afield.
The reserves team, who now sit in seventh on the ladder, will now take on the B Grade Barnstoneworth United team at home before the senior men's game this Saturday.
The women's Eagles team will also return from a bye this week, taking on CSU Bathurst at Edgell Park from 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
