Four residents, Isabel Griffin, June McIntyre, Merle Russell and Moira Downing, with the assistance of Bilyara’s Leisure and Lifestyle Co-ordinator Vanessa Warren and staff member Sean Darling, have created a dollhouse that is going to the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre (CINC).
“We are gifting it to the Neighbourhood Centre because they are very good to us and they support us so we thought that it was a good cause,” Vanessa said.
“We value the work they do for the community.”
June said the ladies had initial discussions about what to include in the house before they got stuck into work.
“We had to scrap all the paper off and then clean it all down and painted it all up,” she said.
“Then we talked about what rooms we would do, what colour scheme.”
CINC CEO Fran Stead said it was a wonderful gesture.
“It will definitely be well loved, we were overwhelmed,” she said.
“Vanessa sent little snippets of their updates as to what the ladies were doing.
“We think, for all the things they could have used it for, for them to think of us, is truly amazing.”
The residents would like to thank Julie Collins for sourcing the dollhouse.
