Brewer Peter Gerber said the Vienna Lager won a silver medal for lagers while the Amber Ale took out a bronze medal in the Best American Style Red amber ale/dark ale category.
“We are still in shock, we entered purely to receive the judges’ feedback and never expected any success,” he said.
“It is the first awards we have entered.”
Mr Gerber said the farm-based brewery was one of only four in Australia and relied on rain water caught on the farm for their brewing.
The awards, now in their 25th year, are claimed to be the largest annual beer competition in the Asia Pacific region.
About 65 judges assessed 1800 entries across three days in Melbourne from Thursday, May 10 to Saturday, May 12 from breweries in Australia and countries overseas.
“Our beers have a fresh and clean finish on the palate which many believe is due to us solely brewing with rain water caught on farm to brew all our beers with,” he said.
The awards offer entrants the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry experts; and be rewarded for excellence.
