Gooloogong Public School student Brayden Dowd has competed at the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee 2017 in the Seniors section, where he was up against more than 40 students from across the state.

Unfortunately Brayden came unstuck in Round 2 of the competition, misspelling “amendment”.

Brayden made it to the state finals after winning three rounds against runner-up Daniel Casey from Orange Public School at the regional final at Calare Public School in September of this year.

Lucinda Adams, from Woollahra Public School, survived 14 rounds to win the senior section with the word “charlatan”.

Lena Zhu from Oatley High School won the junior competition.
