Peter James Reid, 48, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, April 19 to driving an uninsured and unregistered car and also mid-range drink driving.
Highway patrol were alerted to Reid’s unregistered car while patrolling Redfern Street about 3pm on March 19.
Further police inquiries found the car’s registration expired on November 30 last year.
Reid’s car was stopped by police.
He was submitted to a random breath test which he failed, registering a mid-range reading of .115.
According to a statement tendered at court, Reid told police he had consumed four glasses of white wine from 12.30pm to 12.45pm.
At court, Reid’s solicitor Mr Nidal Abdi told Magistrate Peter Dare his client was making some changes and searching for an occupation.
“It’s very hard to find work in Cowra without a licence. In saying that, he does understand there’ll be a suspension for a period of time,” Mr Abdi said.
Reid was convicted on all three charges, suspended from driving for six months and ordered to enter a section nine bond to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
Drug possession
A 48-year-old Cowra man is out of pocket $100 after being convicted on a charge of possessing cannabis.
Michael Charles Weekley came to the attention of police about 12.30pm on February 27 when he was caught speaking on his phone while driving.
In a statement tendered at court, police noted that the accused seemed “very nervous,” when they formally introduced themselves and asked Weekley if he knew why he had been pulled over.
Before police began a search of the vehicle, Weekley declared he had cannabis stored under the driver’s seat.
It was seized by police, and weighed 2.9g.
Court ordered the drugs be destroyed.
