Mr Simpson, 20, of Middle Street Cowra was arrested between 1am and 2am on July 9 at a Hotel car park on Redfern Street.
According to police reports, Mr Simpson was knocked to the ground by a fellow Hotel patron before retaliating and striking a Hotel employee who was trying to intervene.
As a result, Mr Simpson was placed under arrest. Facts reveal he then became abusive towards police and increasingly agitated.
When Mr Simpson was placed in the police truck he lashed out with his foot, striking a senior constable in the stomach.
“Normally people who do that go to jail,” Magistrate Peter Dare said.
His solicitor, Nadel Abdi, said the assault was incidental and asked for a community service order be issued.
On top of 150 hours community service, Mr Simpson received a $100 fine. His section nine bond was revoked.
Refuse breath test
A Cowra man who fled a breath test station by foot has been suspended from driving for 12 months and fined $650.
Vincent Eric Young pleaded guilty to not obeying police direction, resisting police, and refusing to submit a breath test.
Police facts reveal that Mr Young drove past the breath testing station on Lachlan Street on August 25, despite police signalling for him to enter the site.
He then stopped 40m up the road and was told by police to wait while an Alcosier tube was obtained so a breath test could be submitted.
Police then observed Mr Young exit his vehicle and run into a lane towards Macassar Street. A search followed but police couldn’t locate him.
About 9.30am the next morning Mr Young presented himself to the Cowra Police Station where he was charged.
At court, he received a $300 fine and 12 month suspension for refusing the breath test, he was fined $150 for failing to obey police and $200 for resisting police in duty.
