"It is very difficult to find a venue, hopefully we can find something that will be suitable," councillor Ruth Fagan said last week.
At the same time Cr Fagan noted that candidates for the elections can now register online through the NSW Electoral Commission website.
"You can log on and register (as a candidate) or get more information, I'd encourage anyone interested to log on and register," Cr Fagan said.
The Cowra Guardian sent a questionnaire to current Cowra Shire Councillors in March asking if they were re-standing. To date only Cr Judi Smith and Cr Michael Nobes have indicated they are re-standing.
In a report to last week's council meeting, general manager Paul Devery confirmed finding a venue for the election has been "challenging".
"The NSW Electoral Commission is still investigating what are limited options within Cowra for the joint returning office as well as potential options that may involve a separate returning office and pre-poll voting venue, Mr Devery said.
Cr Fagan stressed that anyone interested in standing should take notice of the requirements, which are outlined on the Electoral Commission website.
The Electoral Commission is also holding webinars to assist prospective candidates.
"You have to take quite a lot of notice of these things as they come up very fast," Cr Fagan said of nomination deadlines.
"The amount of paperwork you have to put in is quite rigorous. You have to stay on top of this."
The Local Government elections will be held on Saturday, September 4.
