Cowra co-coach, Chris Day, said the side had performed well in the wet weather.
"I knew it was a lot different game from when we played them in Round 1.
"They were a bit short in that round and I'd had a look at the team list and knew it was going to be tough."
He said it was good for the side to go through a close fought match.
"It was a good game for us to knock a few boys back into place and make them realise there's going to be a few tough games this year," he said.
"We're pretty happy with our effort for the four quarters, it was a pretty hard slog.
"For our players to stand up at the end when challenged at the end and get us over the line was pleasing."
Day said the second tier competition was panning out well for the sport, with his side in a good position for the season's second half.
"The idea behind it is to encourage participation," he said.
"It's been good for us to get some more of our younger blokes involved in the game and develop them a bit more than we could last year in the one tier comp.
"We're really happy with where our numbers are at which makes things easier for us.
"The competition as a whole is pretty even and it should be interesting to see this weekend, we play Parkes in Parkes, so we'll have a look at them and see what's going on there."
