The future of local business looks bright in Cowra, with Joanna Treasure named the Outstanding Young Employee of the Year from a large field of finalists.

Introducing the award at the Cowra Business Awards last Saturday night, MC Marc McLeish said all of the nominees were worthy of the accolade.

"Having the privilege of being around a lot of these young people, what an outstanding field of nominees and it's very deserving of all of them to be nominated," he said.
Ms Treasure thanked her bosses and the Cowra Services Club for their support.
"I know this isn't the Oscars but this kind of thing is really important to me," she said.
Ms Treasure also addressed the attitude that there are a lack of opportunities in Cowra, noting the hundreds of people in the room across a variety of fields.
"I just wanted to take the time while I'm up here to say, I hear all the time that there's nothing to do in Cowra and that there's no opportunities in Cowra, I just wanted to say in response, look at all the people in this room tonight and what they've done."
