The Valleys sit on one win and three losses to start the year, with a narrow win against the Cambridge Cats countered by losses against the Reedy Creek Raptors, Parkes Royal Colts and the Bowling Club, the latter coming in the first game of the season.
Meanwhile, the Bowling Club have had a promising start to the season, sitting on two wins and two losses, though last week's narrow loss to the Reedy Creek Raptors would've been frustrating given the fact that they were in a position to easily win the game.
Nevertheless, in a competition where only the Colts have stood out early in the year, there's plenty of time to make up for lost ground, and this Saturday afternoon's Holman Oval match-up offers another opportunity for both teams to put their best foot forward.
Whatever the case, both teams will be doing it without key players, with several youngsters, including Mikey McNamara, Emerson Baratto and Darcy Callaghan, playing in a Western Zone colts tournament across the weekend in Bathurst.
Both teams will back their depth in though; some strong performers in the second grade competition are likely to get an opportunity.
