Presented by president Peter Ford at Sunday's AGM, the award was ackowledgement of a family that is deeply linked with racing history in Cowra.
Craig was a former champion jockey, winning four premierships when based at Queensland's Caloundra.
In the 1980s, upon coming to reside in Cowra with his wife Narelle, his continued interest in racing became apparent when he was elected president of the Cowra Jockey Club, a position he held for over ten years.
Narelle's racing interest was shaped very early, having watched her father, Cowra champion country hoop Reg Paine, ride, then later her brothers Neil and Rodney, and now her son, Adam Hyeronimus.
When arriving back in Cowra with her husband Craig, she immediately was sought after for the Cowra Jockey Club Committee, becoming the first female committee member.
Her experience of being the Caloundra handicapper and secretary to Pat Berry from Dubbo for a number of years was a great platform for Narelle to become the Cowra Jockey Club's secretary and handle promotions for over 15 years.
The couple are well known throughout the community for their ambassadorship of country racing, as demonstrated when they won the Bob Barr Memorial at June's 2019 Cowra Sportsperson of the Year presentations.
