A great crowd enjoy a number of family activities and checking out the fire fighting equipment, while also learning about the importance of having a plan in place ahead of fire season.
The brigades also hosted a live fire demonstration, to show just how quickly a fire can threaten lives and homes.
Kangaroo Flat RFS Secretary Patrice Sharp said even if just one person turned up on the day, it meant the message would be spread around the community.

"I found today really good and I really appreciate the community coming out," she said.
"We just need one person, one person will tell that next person, that's all we really need."
Along with the two brigades the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) sizzled up a storm on the day at Brougham Park.
Lloyd Grimshaw from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church said volunteers were thrilled to have supported the NSW RFS on this important awareness campaign.
"RRT volunteers were at Brougham Park frying sausages and onions for families as they talked to firefighters about their plans in case of a major fire this season," Mr Grimshaw said.
"Fire puts lives in danger, and it puts livelihoods in danger too so it is really important to have events like this where home owners can ask questions on how best to protect their families.
"Fire safety isn't just for the adults, so it was great to see so many kids come and get hands on with fire fighting equipment, learn more about fire safety and what to do in a real emergency."
RRT is a charity of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, made possible by church volunteers who provide catering services at emergency service operations, fundraisers, community events and more.
RRT Local Team Leader, Phillip Hurrell said charity helps in a number of situations.
"We come in to help community members in need and it's not just for fires, it's floods and cyclones and so forth," he said.

"There's a RRT event happening every three hours across the globe."
Ms Sharp thanked the RRT for their assistance and said there are plans in place to have a Get Ready Weekend event each year.
"It's really appreciated, even at Canobolas when we were all fighting fires up there... the RRT were there," she said.
"We will try and do one big event every year."
