FIRST GRADE
In the first grade match, the team had a comfortable 3-0 win against the Barnstoneworth Saints.
The Eagles were never really troubled at any stage against the Saints but despite winning easily enough, coach Chris Baratto was frustrated at the lack of polish around the goal area, the team unable to convert their around the ground dominance into a big score line.
Nevertheless, the Eagles found multiple avenues to goal, with Bevan Foxall, Darcy Callaghan and Mick Curtale all putting the ball to the back of the net, though the Saints' goal keeper did well restrict the final margin to three goals.
Sam Long and Emerson Baratto were named the best afield for the visitors, who played at Orange's Jack Brabham Park.
While the win will help to consolidate the team in the upper echelons of what is a new competition for them, they will have another challenger this weekend when they host the Barnstoneworth FC, themselves a top team, this Saturday afternoon at Edgell Park from 3.15pm.
RESERVES
While the Cowra Eagles earned themselves a 1-1 draw against the Briggs Over 35s, it was described as "one that got away" by coach Chris Baratto, with the game nearly entirely being played in Briggs' half and Cowra controlling the ball for long periods.
Nevertheless, while Caleb Forsyth scored for the Eagles, Steven Ford got one back for the hosts, meaning leaving Baratto with mixed emotions, believing that "chances too numerous to count were missed".
Darcy Foxall and Ethan Willis were named among the best players for Cowra, who will be looking to get a win and climb their way up the C Grade ladder against the Denley Moor Over 35's this Saturday when they host them at Edgell Park from 1.30pm.
There will also be a forthcoming men's comp-wide bye, scheduled for July 13.
