National Sorry Day is part of Reconciliation Week and acknowledges and recognises members of the Stolen Generations.
CHS ACLO Aunty Robyn Coffey said placing the leaves on the tree helped the healing and reconciliation process.
"National Sorry Day is playing respect to the children who will never come home, to stolen generations, their descendants and families continuing to heal," she said.
"Empathy is a vital part of the healing process for Australians to reach reconciliation.
"This Sorry Tree represents the sadness and devastation of families torn apart.
"By placing a message leaf on the tree it is showing empathy and understanding by all students and staff at Cowra High School," she said.
