Damien joined Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke, Mayor Bill West, Cowra councillors and staff and the community in a quick ribbon cutting before heading back up to the top of the playground's recently installed spider equipment.

CNBAP committee member, Penny Smith, said it was fantastic to see their dream underway.

"This wouldn't of happened, let's be honest, without the funding of the state government. This spider was truly a dream," she said.

"The plan now is for the project to be complete by the end of the year, the next place we will go to is the dancing circle and amphitheatre and we've had discussions with the local Aboriginal community about how that will look.

"Then we will look at the flying foxes and slides," she said.

Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, said while the state government had provided $357,848 in funding through the Stronger Communities Fund, it was the hard work of the CNBAP committee and the Cowra community that brought the project to life.

"They've had this vision for so long and they've stuck with it, thats what's really important," she said.

"When you really believe in something, you've got to stick with it and see it through and look what's happened.

"This is really a community effort, my role was a very small one, they are the ones at the grassroots every single day working so hard to bring projects like this to life.

"Not just for the current generation but for future generations of children."

Mayor West agreed, saying the committee and the community should take full credit for the success of the project.

"You are the people who have driven it, worked hard, raised money, raised community involvement and community expectations," he said.

"So I say congratulations to you all sincerely, this is a testament to what the community can do when they get together and work hard.

"You are to be totally congratulated, you deserve all the credit."
