Thursday marked 50 years to the day the school was opened on the Dowell Street site by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Science, Sir Charles Cutler.
The occasion was marked with a group photo on the front lawn of the school followed by a cake cutting.
Cowra High School long-time administrative staff, Carolyn Devery and Joyanne Rowston, said they were proud of the milestone.
"It feels wonderful and we are all very proud to have 50 years of Cowra High School on the Dowell Street site," Mrs Devery said.
"It's a very proud day for public education," Mrs Rowston said.
Mrs Devery paid tribute to everyone who has either worked or attended Cowra High School.
"Over the past 50 years, we've had many great students that have achieved many great things and we've had wonderful teachers, both past and present, pass through the front doors of Cowra High School," Mrs Devery said.
Both women and their respective children attended Cowra High School.
"As a former student and having four children who came through Cowra High School, I can say that Cowra High School means a lot to the community of Cowra," Mrs Devery said.
"It's a great family thing, our kids have been through here and probably some of our grandchildren will as well," Mrs Rowston said.
The school was formally located on the site of Cowra Public School on Vaux Street.
