The first-grade side was too strong for last year's Group 11 Premiers, winning 34-24 as they continue the ground-work to jump out of the blocks like they did in 2018.
The Magpies will now turn their attention to a home trial match against the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, who are a traditionally strong team CRRL, having been narrowly eliminated by West Belconnen Warriors in the first division semi-finals last year.
Last Saturday's game is among a number of commitments that the Magpies have over the coming weeks before a round one fixture at Glen Willow Sporting Complex against the Mudgee Dragons in mid-April, including the upcoming Bathurst Knockout.
Saturday's match will take place at Sid Kallas Oval, at a time to be confirmed.
