The charity event runs every Thursday night for six weeks twice a year, bringing lots of businesses together to try their hand at lawn bowls.
Some are better than others, but it is all done with the common theme of having fun and supporting our named charity.
Three teams finished undefeated after the six rounds, requiring a 3 way playoff.
JP Plumbing won the first game to advance straight to the final, leaving Dan Parkes Fencing to battle it out with Laurie Chew for the other spot.
Laurie’s team prevailed after some inspiring play by Laurie’s son Braden.
Braden was again to the fore in the final, holding shot with both skips having one bowl each to play.
Laurie showed his class drawing a second shot to put all the pressure on JP’s skip Ben Core.
Ben’s last bowl was a ripper but just sailed past the jack missing it by the barest of margins, handing the final to the team of Joey Glover, Braden Chew and Laurie Chew.
Warilla beckons for Mixed Gold Team
Cowra will be competing for another State Title when their Mixed Gold Team takes part in the Bowls NSW Club Challenge to be played at Club Warilla on the weekend.
The team of Alan Messiter (singles), Dawn Dye/Gerard Beath (pairs) and Sharon Bohanna, Michael Baldwin, Di Clarke (triples) will be focused on a good performance.
It is the first time Cowra has competed in the round robin event, which will see eight teams compete in two sections.
The winner of each section will progress to play in the Sunday final.
Movember Bowls Day Wash-Out
This Charity day has now been rescheduled to Wednesday the 19th of December, due to the wash out on the last Wednesday of November.
The day will also coincide with the last of our ham raffle days and we are hopeful of a big turnout of bowlers from the Men’s Club on the day.
