Cowra will mark the 100th anniversary of Remembrance Day with services at the Cenotaph on Sunday morning and at the Australian Peace Bell in the afternoon.

The Sunday morning service commences at 10:57a.m.

Participants are asked to assemble no later than 10:50 a.m. Form up is in front of the Cenotaph.

A short service, including wreath laying,  will commence at 11a.m. after the parade has assembled and the Last Post has been sounded. One minutes silence and the ODE of Remembrance will then follow.

Cowra’s regional cadet unit will be mounting the catafalque party.

Veterans are requested to wear full size medals and decorations (Miniatures should not be worn).

A light morning tea for RSL members and guests will be held in the sub-Branch rooms after the service.

Poppies and Remembrance Day Memorabilia will be on sale this year. Poppies and badges will be available for sale on Friday morning and Saturday morning. Members will be located outside of Woolworths and outside Optimal Pharmacy from approximately 9 am.

Please wear your Poppy with pride on this special occasion.

This year the Poppy Appeal in New South Wales is a fundraising appeal conducted by the Trustee for RSL Welfare and Benevolent Institution (RSL WBI trading as RSL DefenceCare), which is engaging the assistance of many RSL NSW volunteers in the lead up to Remembrance Day.

Funds raised from this activity will be used to support Australian veterans and their families in need.

RSL NSW has voluntarily suspended all of their own fundraising activities while they address regulatory compliance.

On Sunday afternoon the Cowra Breakout Association has organised for bagpipers to take part in a ceremony playing The Battle’s O’er at the Australian Peace Bell from 5pm.

Any further information on Sunday morning’s service can be obtained by contacting the Cowra RSL sub-branch Secretary Felicity Jess  on (02) 6342 3540.
