Acting Regional Manager Southern, Mathew Rogers, said crews were kept busy yesterday afternoon and well into the night responding to a range of power outages and incidents, including trees coming into contact with powerlines, broken wires and damaged network equipment.
“Around 1,500 customers in Queanbeyan were affected by a power outage, with other outages affecting customers in the Cowra, Young, Boorowa, Yass, Crookwell, Goulburn, Braidwood and Cooma areas,” Mathew said.
“Supply was progressively restored to most customers by 11.30pm.
“We anticipate that power will be restored to all customers today.”
Essential Energy urges residents to be cautious around fallen powerlines and other electrical hazards and report incidents on 13 20 80.
