If you loved reading his books you’ll love listening to this best selling children’s author speak when he visits Cowra on September 13.
Originally set to speak at the library, the location has been moved to the Cowra Civic Centre due to the amount of people booked to attend.
Caroline Eisenhauer of the Cowra Library said about 300 school students are attending.
“If any members of the public would like to attend, book in on eventbrite.com or ring the library,” she said.
“It’s a book in only event.”
Gleitzman wrote his first children’s novel in 1985.
He is now one of Australia’s most successful authors, both internationally and at home.
The majority of Gleitzman’s accolades are for his hugely popular children’s books.
One of the first was Two Weeks With the Queen an international bestseller which was also adapted into a play by Mary Morris.
All of his other books have been shortlisted for or have won numerous children’s book prizes here and overseas.
Gleitzman is now the Australian Children’s Laureate and will dedicate the next two years to advocating for the importance of stories and everything stories can offer.
His theme is “Stories Create Our Future”.
“Young people need stories more than ever,” Gleitzman said.
“Stories to delight, stories to beguile, stories to inspire, stories to move deeply. And through these experiences, stories that equip young readers to embrace an often dark and uncertain world with optimism, resolve and creativity.”
The reading is at the Cowra Civic Centre at 10.30am on Thursday, September 13.
