The team is aiming to go undefeated having qualified for the decider without suffering a loss in the competition’s five rounds.
This Saturday, Grenfell meets Bowling Club at Twigg Oval.
“We haven’t lost a game,” skipper Craig Smith said.
“We’ve had a few close calls, one very close game against Bowling Club last week. They’ve been our best competition.”
Smith is looking to batsmen Steve Holmes and Matt Tozer to do the damage with the willow while Luke Murphy and Dallas Hazell loom as Grenfell’s key bowlers.
Harrison Starr has been crucial with the new ball, and the experience of Terry Knight has been valuable in the short form.
Smith said the Twenty20 format suits his team.
“We have a few big hitters and some blokes who have played plenty of cricket,” he said.
Bowling Club has been the most damaging side with the willow regularly blasting scores north of 100 in the 20-over competition.
Last week against Canowindra, Bowling Club posted 6-171 from its 20 overs with captain, and son of Matt Morrison, Lachlan Morrison and Dave Hampton posting half centuries.
Morrison identified key batsmen Ben Colby and Paul Basham as the bats to watch this weekend, while Aiden Roberts and Joe Waters look the most likely wicket takers.
Grenfell defeated Bowling Club by 17 runs in the two clubs encounter last weekend, but Morrison is confident his side can turn it around in the decider.
“We had a massive collapse, only two batsmen made more than 10,” he said.
The Cowra club side is aiming to bounce back after its Matt Morrison Shield Twenty20 defeat in last season’s decider.
It looms as an exiting encounter with both sides boasting hard hitters of the ball and potential match winners.
The match is scheduled to begin at 10.30am at Twigg Oval, an early start due to extreme heat forecast.
This week’s Lachan Premier League round sees Bowling Club and Valleys do battle at Holman Oval while Parkes Colts and Cambridge Cats meet at Parkes’ Woodward Oval.
