An adaptation of the comedic, holiday favourite, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, this highly anticipated production is sure to be a hit for everyone in the family.
Cindy-Lou, a kind-hearted girl (played by Brigette Healy), daughter to Lou LouWho (Sarah Gardiner), and Betty LouWho (Zoe Stedman), is curious about a somewhat fictional character who lives on top of Mount Crumpit, named The Grinch (played by Imajen James). When Cindy’s brother’s Drew (Grace Mangelsdorf) and Stu (Lowanna Murray) climb Mount Crumpit and awaken the Grinch, the town of Whoville goes into a frenzy of Grinch fright. With a heart of gold, Cindy-Lou endeavours to convince the town, including Mayor Augustus Maywho (Jessica McLeish), his trusty right hand man Whobris (Ashleigh Saunders) and wife Martha May (Grace Gallagher), that there is more to Christmas than gift giving.
She investigates The Grinch’s past, and discovers some interesting facts about the young Augustus Maywho (Rory Boland), Martha May (Kate Stammers) and Grinch (Lucy Murray).
The Grinch is surprised by Cindy’s perseverance and lack of fright, and agrees to make an appearance at the town Christmas Eve Whobillation Festival.
However, things go terribly wrong, when The Grinch discovers that the bully from his past, Mayor Augustus Maywho, has the hand of the love of his life, Martha May.
All of Whoville shows the deepest of disappointment towards Cindy and her family, until something happens within the Grinch that makes him too, see past the tradition of Christmas presents, and recognise the true meaning of Christmas.
