A family's attempt to keep their newborn child from being taken into the care of the Department of Family and Community services has ended with a pedestrian needing surgery, a man on the run from police and multiple people facing serious charges.

The two-day-old girl was taken from Blacktown Hospital by family members, believed to be the mother, father and grandmother of the child.
The 47-year-old grandma attempted to drive away from the hospital with the baby's parents in the back seat along with the child.
The woman drove the Holden Commodore along Main Street, driving erratically and even driving between vehicles stationary at a red light.
The vehicle then continued up the street before crossing onto the wrong side of the road to overtake a car that had stopped at a pedestrian crossing.
The vehicle struck 61-year-old Nader Rezae on the pedestrian crossing, carrying him on the vehicle for a short time.
The mother and father fled the scene with the newborn child.
Mr Rezae was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition where he is set to undergo surgery for a head injury.
It is alleged that after fleeing the scene, the mother gave the child to 19-year-old Jasmine Taylor who agreed to hide the baby inside the pram with her own four-month-old baby.
Police called to the scene then approached Ms Taylor who refused to let police look inside the pram.
Ms Taylor was charged along with the child's grandmother who was arrested at the scene.
Police spoke to the mother of the child who is in hospital following a mental health assessment. The child's father remains on the run.
The newborn child was taken to a medical centre nearby before being returned to Blacktown Hospital where she is now under the care of The Department of Community Services.
Ms Taylor was charged with being an accessory after the fact to taking a child with intent to remove it from parental control.
Her lawyer will allege that she was approached by a group who asked her to protect the baby from the wind.
She has been granted bail to look after her own child but Magistrate Les Brennan highlighted the teenager's lengthy criminal record which is reportedly 19 pages long.
The child's grandmother was charged with seven offences and did not apply for bail when she faced court on Saturday.
Both Ms Taylor and the child's grandmother will face Penrith Local Court on Friday.
