The production showcases the talents of some of the M&D’s younger members with Lyndall Ryan in the lead role of Geraldine Granger - The Vicar of Dibley.
This is Lyndall’s first major role with the local group for many years, and her combination with Bianca Riggio, who plays the inept but well-meaning verger Alice Tinker is one of the highlights of the show.
Alice’s love interest Hugo is played by newcomer Simon Cato, who is making his debut with the M&D.
Other featured performers in the ensemble cast include Graham Apthorpe as Frank, Jenny Friend as Mrs Cropley, Richard Neate as Jim, Norm Palazzi as Owen, Lawrance Ryan as David, and Ros Ryan as the inappropriate wedding guest.
A number of younger performers also make their M&D debuts in the show including Lily Clark, Olivia McLennan, Sophie McLennan, Cameron Murray and Kemp Riches.
Director Robyn Ryan is looking forward to opening night.
“The Vicar of Dibley is a genuinely funny show that has lost nothing with the passage of time,” she said.
“It was a much loved television show in the 1990s and the stage production, which is based on the first six episodes of the TV series, is just as entertaining.
“It’s a real pleasure to have so many younger performers in the cast. They have all worked hard and can’t wait for opening night.”
The Vicar of Dibley makes its Cowra debut with a dinner show at 7pm on Friday, September 22.
There is a second dinner show on Saturday, September 23 and a matinee with catered afternoon tea on Sunday, September 24.
Tickets are $40 each for the dinner show and $25 each for the Sunday matinee.
