They have the bye this week, so they get the automatic two points, but their fate is completely out of their hands. Cowra relies on Mudgee Dragons defeating a high-flying Lithgow side by more than 70 and need Bathurst St Pat’s to oust Hawks.
The Magpies find themselves in this position after a string of defeats at the hands of St Pat’s, Bathurst Panthers and Hawks, which pushed them from fifth to seventh on the Group 10 ladder.
It’s been a tough second-half of the year for Cowra, having played just two games at Sid Kallas Oval out the final nine regular rounds.
Should results go their way, this week’s bye at least gives the players time to recover from the past few weeks.
They’ll be keenly chasing updates from Glen Willow Stadium and Wade Park on Sunday, where Workies are away to Mudgee and Hawks host St Pat’s respectively.
