To help mark this special occasion, a custom-made NSW Police baton is making its way around the state over the next six months, due to arrive in Orange today.
Locals are encouraged to head down to the Orange CBD, where representatives from NSW Police Force will run a 3 - 5 kilometre relay in town, Senior Constable Lynn Stone from Cowra will be passing the baton on the day.
"I think of it as a bit of a privilege to be able to participate," Sen Con Stone said.
Themed 'Celebrating Compassion, Courage and Strength', this year's celebrations have marked a huge journey over the last 100 years, which began with only two female officers, Lillian Armfield and Maude Rhodes, who were employed as 'special constables' and chosen from 400 candidates in 1915.
"I have been in the police force for 29 years as of November," Sen Con Stone said.
She was the third ever female police officer in Cowra, but is now one of many.
"There have been a lot of changes for woman since I joined the force," she said.
"The biggest one, for me, is that woman are allowed to be part time until their youngest child turns five, which allows for much needed flexibility at home."
Today, NSW boasts 4,542 female sworn officers and 2,581 female unsworn officers, and a lifetime of achievements in Local Area Commands and specialist units.
The local celebrations will include a travelling roadshow exhibit, a colouring competition for local children, an art competition for high school students and a recruitment and Crime Prevention Stall. Also in attendance will be the NSW Police Force Mounted Unit, Traffic and Highway Patrol and Polair Helicopter.
The baton relay will begin on Byng Street at the Orange Police Station from 10am.
"It is nice to acknowledge 100 years of woman in policing, and it is nice to be acknowledged for the work that we do," Sen Con Stone said.
