The top four in the ladies first grade has been very consistent throughout the year and all four teams are more than capable of winning the competition.

Unlike the men, the Ladies team controlled the game from the first whistle launching several attacks into the Macquarie half. Tayla Tarrant and Kristy Ford were both strong up front as was Brittany Wilson.

But it was the rampaging energizer bunny, Sofie Frenda-Briggs who broke the deadlock half way through the first stanza. After beating two defenders, she managed to squeeze past the keeper and score another goal on what has been a brilliant season for her.

Macquarie continued placing long balls over the top for their fast attack to chase which kept Bree Burns and Cloe Lynch busy at the back. Nicolette Pickard, who has been in tremendous form all year, showed incredible strength and determination in several challenges to win the ball against some very physical players on the Macquarie team.

In the second half, Macquarie certainly piled on pressure on the Cowra defence, forcing keeper Tanielle Michael to make some saves. Cowra built out of their half well though through Erin Bates and Maddie Reid who showed great courage to play despite still recovering from a wrist injury after some goal keeping heroics only a few weeks ago.

Toward the end of the half, a great turn and long range shot snuck past everybody to sneak in next to the right hand post and tie the scores up. Cowra had a few more chances in the dying minutes but were unable to capitalise.

Extra time came around with Cowra unlucky not to go ahead early after some great attacking runs by Keira Kachel.

Some good attack from Macquarie had Cowra defending a few corners in a row that saw nails being bitten from both sides, before a free kick was awarded just outside the penalty area.

A sublime kick managed to beat everybody and end up in the top corner and saw Macquarie go ahead.

Cowra showed great spirit though, fighting hard from this point with no one refusing to give up.

Cowra planted themselves in the Macquarie half and stayed there, going close several times and even hitting the post on one occasion. However it was not to be with the referee blowing the final whistle.

It was a great performance by the Cowra team; they dominated for the majority of the game but the ball just didn't bounce their way. Coach Steve Ford stated he was extremely proud of how the girls gave it their all and threw everything into the match and to the season as a whole.
