The beautiful autumn weather provided a picturesque country side trip across from Binni Creek Road from Cowra to Mandurama then straight to Neville for lunch. The group were amazed at the setting of the Neville Village of the railway carriages and goods shed into self contained units and function centre.
This unique accommodation and setting was the vision of Ted Wilson who along with his wife Betty spent hours of thought and labour to construct this venture some years ago into a time warp that is comfortable, economical and a convenient place to visit.
The business is about to change over to locals Kevin and Jenene Radburn who were on hand with Scally and Nona Radburn and Betty Wilson to welcome the Cowra Parkinson's Group to a lovely prepared lunch with pretty table floral decor Jenene Radburn had arranged.
Part of the walk around Neville was visit to 150 year old Presbyterian Church which recently celebrated that centenary. This church with its walls of cedar and black pine ceiling still has the original pedal organ in perfect condition. Scally Radburn played the organ and to everyone's surprise the tuning and sound was incredible.
Thank you to Betty Wilson for her talk of the history of Neville and this Neville Siding, also the Radburn's for the wonderful hospitality the Cowra Parkinson's received.
The trip continued onto view the wind turbines then around to Carcoar Dam, the sale yards and afternoon tea in the quaint village of Carcoar.
Thank you to Alan Vorias of Ideal Tours for the safe journey and arranging the itinerary, to all who supported the trip coordinated by Carole Doyle and treasurer for the day Meryl Lees.
The last meeting on the 5th May secretary Joy Dwight reported the Charity Shoot organized by the Cowra Gun Club was an overwhelming success with $39OO.00 being raised. The competition raffle from Cowra Parkinson's Support was won by Peter Haymen( A patchwork quilt made by member Meryl Lees) and second prize of a heater won by Peter Haley. Thank you to all who supported this charity shoot with the money raised going to Parkinson's NSW for research and the local Support Group to assist sufferers of Parkinson's Disease.
News from the Central West Health Service there is now a special Parkinson's Registered Nurse to replace RN Wendy Smith. This position is a vital service for all Parkinson's Sufferers, family and carers. This nursing position also works alongside the neurologists in Orange and local medical officers.
