The cover of Rolling Stone magazine is a cultural icon.
As a premier music and entertainment magazine in Australia, it has come to reflect both global and Australian popular culture with passion, honesty and attitude.
Many of these covers have come to define an era - not just in terms of the artists that grace the covers, but through brilliant design, photography, illustration and typography.
With an original masthead designed by the late, great psychedelic artist Rick Griffin, stunning photography and illustration by luminaries including Annie Leibovitz and Ralph Steadman, and the work of stellar art directors, this exhibition of 150 magazine covers spanning 1972 to 2010 is not only a fascinating chronicle of this period but also an insight into the design of our times.
Cover features include Madonna, Michael Hutchence, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Steve Martin, Bj rk, Midnight Oil, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Bono, The Beatles and many more!
This is an artisan touring exhibition supported by Rolling Stone Australia.
There is an opening and special preview of both exhibitions this Saturday October 26 commencing at 2pm including afternoon tea.
