This past week marked an exciting celebration of Female Football Week, capped off by a special open training session for junior players. Young players had the opportunity to warm up and train alongside the Senior Women’s team to share techniques and leadership. Following the session, players and supporters gathered to enjoy a sausage sizzle while cheering on the Women’s team during their weekend match.

C Grade, coached this week by co-Captain Connor Mundroe with Drew Willis on referee duties managed to secured a 3-2 victory in a nail biting win over Millthorpe Tigers.

According to Munroe, the key to their success was “positive, strong communication on and off the pitch.” Strategic in-game adjustments, including shifts in positioning and the decision to play an extra defender late in the match helped hold the line while Cowra clutched the win.

Though a younger side still growing, the team showed maturity and teamwork. “Everyone had a role, and each player executed it to the best of their abilities,” said Munroe. The squad aims to keep the momentum going by focusing on continued communication and positive team dynamics.

The Senior Men's side also managed a win over Millthorpe, their first home game win of the season. Coached by Adam Gambrill. Cowra pipped their opponents 1-0 in a hard-fought battle. Despite several chances in the first half, it wasn’t until shortly after the break that Brandon Dickerson found the net following a smooth build-up from the backline through midfield.

Strong performances from Rohan Wilson, Joey Crittenden, and Alex Boswell were instrumental in maintaining control, while Dickerson’s relentless effort earned him Player of the Match honours. The team’s ability to close out the match with composure sets a positive tone for the rest of the season.

To ring in Female Football Week however, Cowra's Senior Women's side dominated the Tigers.

Coached by Mitchell Thompson, the Senior Women’s team put on a masterclass, overwhelming Millthorpe with an 11-0 win. Mr Thompson praised the squad’s “unreal ball movement” and high-quality passing, which allowed them to control the tempo despite the heat.

Goals came from all over the pitch with standout contributions from Courtney Booth, winning Player's Player along with Tayla Tarrant nominated for Player of the Day. Other standout performances came from Allie Woods, Charlotte Oliver, Holly Gorham, Jaca Ridgeon, and Karly Woods. The team focused on making the ball do the work in hot conditions, a tactic that paid off handsomely.

Looking ahead, Thompson emphasized the importance of staying humble and continuing to build on their crisp ball movement and team cohesion as the competition gains focus.

The club looks forward to carrying this energy into the rest of the season.
