Despite having a bye in the first round of the season, the Canowindra are ready to take on the season ahead, which marks 50 years of the Canowindra Rugby Union Club.
This year, they will be celebrating the club's 50 years on Saturday, 12 July with several games and a celebratory dinner at the Canowindra Services Club.
Canowindra Rugby Club's Oliver Groves said it will be a pretty good day, with an old boys game, juniors games and a women's game.
Mr Groves said, while they don't have a women's team this year, the competition have a couple of women's games that have two teams playing away, which can be hosted in Canowindra.
More information about ticket prices and the day will be released in the next few weeks, Mr Groves said, with the Rugby Union Club's Facebook page a good place to keep up to date.
Looking to the season ahead on the rugby pitch, the Canowindra Pythons will be hosting Yeoval Eagles in round two on Saturday, 10 May.
While the pre season has been good for the Pythons, Mr Groves said they have had slow start due an initial lack of numbers.
However, players have been showing up and they've had a few good team runs and having been working on fitness, Mr Groves said.
"It's really starting to shape up. We're going to have something that's worth putting on the field," he said.
Coming off their trail matches in 22 March at Grenfell's Derby Day, Mr Groves said they took a lot of good things away from that, including the need to work on their fitness.
Mr Groves said they have been working on their fitness since then and expects the Canowindra Pythons will have a red-hot start to their season on 10 May.
