The contribution equates to approximately 50 per cent of production costs.
Speaking at the July General Committee meeting, Cowra Business Chamber President, Jordan Core said the cards have experienced a surge in popularity during the last two years.
"The gift card is something we've been running for quite a while now, we're up to our sixth year in the program, we set ourselves a few targets in our for people to use the cards and use it actively," he said.
"We set a target last year of $150,000 and we cracked that and just this month we've cracked $200,000 loaded onto the cards, a lot of money spent locally."
Mr Core said they were now looking to order more cards ahead of the Cowra Christmas Street Festival in December.
Councillor Ray Walsh said he was happy to support the contribution as it meant more money would be spent at local businesses.
"Happy to support in that it's been a great success, small incentives that council can actually use to encourage money to be spent locally," he said.
Cr Miller said it was an "easy decision" for council to make, noting the amount of money loaded onto the cards and amount being kept in the local economy.
"I think the figures are most impressive, it certainly a means to supporting our business houses," he said.
