Across the region Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes and other western parts were greeted with a dust before their rain, with Bureau of Meteorology data recording very strong wind gusts reaching up to 107km/h in Dubbo at 7.41pm, while Parkes had gusts up to 95km/h.
Cowra won't see any more wet weather this week with the Bureau forecasting mostly sunny days with temperatures in the mid 30s and a 10 to 20 per cent chance of receiving any rain.
The Bureau's rainfall outlook for February to April is 50:50 with no strong push towards wetter or drier than average conditions.
Several months of above average rainfall are needed to see a recovery from current long-term rainfall deficiencies.
