Officially opened on Saturday, November 23 at Cowra Regional Art Gallery, the region's foremost annual youth art exhibition featured artworks by students in years 10, 12 and 12 from eight high schools.
Now in it's 16th year, there are more than 60 artworks on display by students from the region with a diverse range subjects, styles and mediums including painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, mixed media and photography.
The participating schools are:
- Canowindra High School
- Cowra High School
- Dubbo School of Distance Education
- Henry Lawson High School
- Parkes High School
- St Raphael's Catholic School Cowra
- Henry Lawson High School and
- Hennessy Catholic College
This year's judge was Madeline Young, Director of the Corner Store Gallery Orange.
She was very impressed by the creativity and high standard of works on show, commenting that that many of the winning works included a great use of colour, clever and unique concepts and were very well presented.

Winner - Digital Art: Lloyd Ducksberry, Hennessy Catherlic School, Year 12
Winner - Ceramics: Amy Knapman, Hennessy Catholic College, Year 10
Winner - Painting: Shiayn Newham-Gregg, Cowra High School, Year 12
Winner - Sculpture: Brooke Windsor, Hennessy Catholic College, Year 12
This is a "must-see" exhibition and visitors will be delighted by the showcase of vibrant and interesting artworks on display.
Visitors are also invited to vote for their favourite work and at the end of the exhibition the students whose work has the most votes will receive the People's Choice Award supported by the Friends of the Gallery.
UpstART 2019 continues to Sunday, December 8.
