The veteran was in sparkling touch during his time on the crease, hitting the ball to all corners of the ground in his 102, Bowling Club chasing the total down with two overs to spare at Twigg Oval.
Winning the toss and choosing to bowl, the home side was potentially left wondering if they'd made the right decision after Grenfell put up an impressive 7/183 in the opening dig.
Opener Terry Knight starred with 91, while Joshua Knight and Harrison Starr added 40 and 25 respectively.
However, the Bowling Club rallied, opener Alana Ryan adding a handy 27 to steady the ship after the side was 1/0, with Ethan Gray (19) and skipper Paul Basham (14), although not necessarily adding many runs themselves, also holding up an end as Howarth went berserk.
Phillip Rolls was the best of Grenfell's bowlers, taking 3/36 on a day that otherwise got away from them thanks to the show that Howarth put on.
Valleys get off the mark at Henry Lawson
Meanwhile, over at Grenfell's Henry Lawson Oval, the Cowra Valleys made sure their season started off on a positive note, inflicting a big defeat against the Grenfell White side.
Like their counterparts who played at Twigg, the home team would've walked off the field comfortable with the total they put up being dismissed for 169 in the 36th and final over.
Bailey Edwards hit a handy 55, while Ky O'Byrne chipped in to add an unbeaten 27 runs late. For the visitors, Kane Schofield's 4/32 and Isaac Steel's 2/27 helped to keep them in touch.
However, any illusion of a balanced contest quickly went out the window as Jared Mason smashed 81 runs from 65 balls and Conor Lamond added 44 from 25, the Valleys putting up 3/170 as they chased down the home team's total in the 24th over; Grenfell White copping a second consecutive loss.
This weekend, the Valleys will play the Bowling Club in a cross-town showdown at Twigg Oval, while Morongla will travel to Henry Lawson Oval to play Grenfell Blue. Grenfell White, meanwhile, will aim to regroup during their bye.
